Presenter: Jon Thorsen is Director of Advancement Services at The Nature Conservancy. He joined the development profession in 1987 and has led research and advancement services operations for such organizations as Princeton University and the American Red Cross. He has given presentations on many facets of the development profession at conferences of APRA, ADRP, AFP, CASE and other organizations. A former president of APRA, he received the association’s Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
Program Description: The number of non-profit organizations has nearly doubled in the last ten years, adding to the many messages our donors receive. Standing out requires a commitment to the donor relationship that goes beyond “standard” messaging. Providing information about the organization’s mission remains important, but crafting that information to resonate with donors’ perspectives is key. Incorporating this into your overall relationship management program is also essential. Jon will bring us his insights on how advancement services professionals link stewardship efforts with prospect research and management for increased fundraising success.
Cost: Free for APRA-GNY members! Nonmembers charged $15. This fee can be applied towards your $50 membership.
